Grand Prix Motorcycle Racers Book
Charting the history of American racers from dirt tracks in their own backyards to the world stage, this book gives a detailed analysis of the racing careers of the likes of Kenny Roberts and Freddie Spencer, through to Nicky Hayden and John Hopkins. It’s a detailed and analytical piece of work with some interesting and enlightening quotes from the champions, would-be champions and their long-suffering team managers. This is not a coffee table book full of glossy photos – rather it is a reasonably in-depth text and a good reference book. Whilst, as the title suggests, it’s focus is GP stars, it also includes a chapter briefly covering American success in the World Superbike series.
Surprisingly, perhaps, there is no analysis of why America has produced so many GP stars over the years – DeWitt states that facts and allows you to draw your own conclusions.
It’s priced at £18.99 and is available from all good bookshops or direct from Grantham Book Services on 01476 541080.
